THE BYLAW PROPOSAL BROUGHT BY MEA MEMBERS

The current Article IV, Section 9 bylaw states:  "Each newly elected board member shall take an oath of office and be seated at a scheduled Board meeting in the month of July following the annual meeting provided that such Board meeting shall occur no earlier than July 4th."

[In 2008, the election is held March 1st and candidates will not be seated until July 14th--4 1/2 months later.]

The change proposed by MEA members says:

"Each newly elected board member shall take an oath of office and be seated within 15 days of the Annual Meeting at a special meeting or at the next regularly scheduled monthly Board meeting following the Annual Meeting, which ever date comes first.  The bylaw amendment shall take effect immediately upon passage."
