UtilityWatch was formed in 2000 to monitor local activities.  MEA had been found in December of 1999 to be non-compliant in the reporting of some expenditures by the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA).   Then, MEA attempted to eliminate regulatory oversight by the RCA.  UtilityWatch successfully fought for MEA consumers rights and continued oversight by the RCA.  

Now MEA's proposal to build a coal power plant deserves a great deal of public attention and consideration.  UtilityWatch will help provide good information and suggest courses of action. Check back frequently for new information and new links.

Please help ask, answer and share information so MEA co-op owner-members can make informed choices!
